The latest trend in CCTV has seen not only an increase in picture quality over a standard BNC cable but also extra functions/signals being sent down the same cable too. On the SPRO range of cameras and recorders not only can you record HD images, or even 4k images, you can also capture audio or even alarm signals.
So how do you record audio?
Well first of all you need a camera with a built-in microphone and a recorder that is able to capture the audio. See the bottom of the page for HD Analogue cameras and recorders that support audio. The microphone on the camera will be on by default but the recorder won't record this straight away. Simply go into the settings on the recorder and then into encode and there should be a couple of tick boxes to enable audio recording. If you are using SPRO cameras and recorders you are able to record audio for each of the audio channels, i.e. one for each camera with a built-in mic. If you use a separate microphone (and cable) you will only be able to record up to the number of ports there are on the back of the recorder.
How does the Alarm over Coax work?

By default the recorder is set to record constantly, to change this all that needs to be done is change the DVR to record on a schedule. Enter the main menu and go to the storage settings, you will be able to change the settings here to only record on motion. And that's all there is to it.
